I don't think the OP is looking for anything here.
He is new to FT (welcome, by the way) and he was (understandably) surprised by the 'glitch' (I think most of us would have been). So he asked if anyone here can shine another light on this.
Agree it's a good outcome.
(mrs t and I once got 110K Skywards
each for an irrops issue which caused a 25 hour delay. Plus the hotel, meals etc. Was during Covid. We were delighted with that one!)
