It is with multi-city that I get the astronomical airfares. There are many ways of connecting, Fiumicino, Munich, Frankfurt, Brussels, Zurich, but the "reasonable" flight times get the crazy numbers, i.e., $5,000 per person PP roundtrip.
Of course, it makes a huge amount of sense that the desirable itineraries cost the most...
