I would save the 30 PP especially if you feel that you will use them at some point. If they will expire, then of course that changes things. I am usually able to get Polaris upgrades for 40 PP, so I value them much more than $280. And even if I use skip waitlist, for me on the legs I travel, the $ value of each PP is about $20. So 30 PP would be worth at least $600.
Was thinking along the same lines as well, have been able to use all my PP from 2024/2025 qualification on LH upgrades from J to F for 40 PP when the cash upgrades have been between $1,000-2,000 so a minimum of $25/PP there

For us the annual PP are worth ~$18k -- we use miles to buy award ticket and then upgrade to J our flights to and from TYO - we have solid flexibility on travel dates so we basically never miss an upgrade and often get them at booking (becoming less frequent lately though)...
That's an awesome use and value for the PP, as a lowly 1K with young kids my flexibility is almost zero so using the skip the waitlist feature seems to work well. In this case the difference in cost between R and J is $3,400, making the STW PP worth ~$30
