Concur 100%. Recently checked hotels in DC, Vegas and Nashville. The cheapest Edit options were significantly higher than my budget, and the rates were all much higher than booking directly. So from what I see so far the Edit is completely worthless to me, esp as it requires semi-annual usage.
Now contrast to Amex Delta Biz Gold card which provides a $150 annual credit that I can for any property in any price rangel. Easy peasy and fully refundable. Even Amex Plat $200 credit is easier to use as there is a greater range of properties and some that only require 1 night stay.
Chase knows exactly what it is doing here and with the breakage and commissions probably shelling out very little on this "perk"
Nb: Have several fond memories from stays at The Lodge, used to go for $250 a night (off season) or a reasonable amount of points. Alas Napa (and I gather Sonoma) reportedly now have the highest hotel rates in the state.
There are mid-week stays in Vgas where the benefit may make sense,
