I am on the fence regarding that decision. I'll move all my auto-pays over to the new card once it arrives. IMHO the Signature card then becomes a vehicle to score a yearly companion fare for $95. I'll need to consult with my real-world supervisor before making that choice.
In resolving my frozen credit report issue earlier, I talked with the CSR about this very question. She said don't close the Signature account until I've moved everything over. Then if I want to close it, call B of A and have them move my credit limit over (Infinite is less than Signature, but not by a significant amount) and request they close the account.
Another option suggested by ChatGPT is to downgrade the Signature card to a no-fee card. There's no hit to my credit score if I do that.
Looking ahead: when I retire and my income goes down, I may not want to pay $395 for the Infinite card. Maintaining the Signature card may be a good idea when viewed through that lens.
