For PoT, OMAAT, VFTW, etc, this is their livelihood. They need access to airline execs to continue to get special/early info that lets them produce the content that earns then a living, give them comped flights or status or whatever, advertise their co-branded CCs, etc.
Marriot Bonvoy seems to do this (stay credits at least).
The blogger involvement is interesting. Just part of corporate comms.
