So, I just had a two night weekend stay, on a weekend away from Hong Kong - we wanted to be in Futian, but my normal haunt would historically have been the original St Regis. I flagged this video as we were booked into an identical Junior Suite, more of that later, and as a result I don't really feel the need to put out pictures as it looks the same seven years later, though everything well maintained. The bed was massive, like two American kings.

The room rate we had booked was actually a garden room, but with a guaranteed junior suite upgrade & breakfast for 2 adults+2 kids that included a kids tent (Ritz Night-time adventures), that also came with a stargazing nightlight that played music, showed galaxies and also had toys, lights and more. The kids loved it, though it was about twice the price of a normal room and not too dissimilar to the suite outright (about CNY2500/night). About ten days out things started well, with an elite welcome (I'm an ambassador), and the usual questions around special requests (none) and arrival times. Five days out however there was a non-elite duplicate email that didn't really show any connection, nor the suite upgrade. A short reply seemed to fix it all in the app.

Anyway, the negative I would say is that you're certainly not going to be getting a free upgrade here, and the hotel was very explicit that my junior suite didn't come with club privileges, nor did my status mean anything more than 1000 welcome points (in a polite way). However, there were plenty more positives - the breakfast really did feel premium - from hand made sushi (8 varieties of, which I don't think I'd tried most of them before), to an Indian selection, to then the typical egg station (delivered to table), noodle bar, Chinese foods, bakery items etc. Certainly more international and a higher quality than the StR, which has a fairly wide spread as well, but all tastes a bit more "mass produced". We also used the pool, which is pretty basic but warm and well attended too - free iced water is available, but they missed the chance to offer anything more. The staff, of which there were plenty, really did try their best to welcome us, say hi to the kids and look after us.

So, we'd happily return, but likely with a cheaper room next time - I don't believe the club lounge is worth it when your local dinners can be had for USD10-15 from excellent restaurants, though admittedly with poor wine/alcohol choices. Nearby were a whole suite of malls, children's playrooms, and more.
