Traveling from ZRH-USA on LX operated flight with AC code in Y as a UA *G. Got a text/email from AC saying my cabin class has been upgraded and new seat is 11A. On the Swiss app, when I look at "travel details" on the main page it shows 11A as my seat. When I go to manage booking it shows my original seat. The flight is completely full so I am assuming this is an operational upgrade, but why would this happen and was I actually upgraded (flight is 22 hours away). Can't check in until I get to ZRH since connecting from EW.
Don't know about the AC part but for LX that's how the OpUps show in practice: They are visible in the app (though usually only about 60 min before departure), but not in MMB. The electronic BPs in passbook and the app are not updated either. The beep when scanning the BP will get the printer spit out a 'new seat' receipt. Also, if you're on a B77W (MIA, ORD, LAX, SFO) 11A is a throne seat - only available for LX HON/SEN or against a fee, which not many people want to pay.
Hope you end up in 11A, probably not many HON and SEN booked, plus half empty C and oversold Y.
This would be the better thread:
