The benefits of having a CX account (which you must input the FFP# in the booking), from the top of my head, are:
- you can OLCI at T-48 instead of the T-24 available for non-members
- you can avail member-specifix promo codes, if you have them
else, depending on your fare class, you'll be fine with your QR FFP#
Thank you for your reply , I am still not clear how i get the avios points from Cathay into my Avios account , I understand you have to select the correct class of fare but confused about the rest of the process. (Regarding the class , That will be on the fare rules before booking . Thank you

Just to update , I have had a chat with Cathay and they are saying the following

If a Cathay membership account has been added to the booking, Asia Miles will be credited accordingly. For any other frequent flyer programs, please contact the respective airline to confirm their mileage crediting policies.
