If you have joined the QR FFP and used the number on your Cathay booking you will get QR points and Avios per the QR earning table.
You can then redeem your QR avios on flights etc ( ie cathay flights at a later date ) subject to availability.
I would check that QR would be the best programme for you going forward based on location/choice of airlines routes and flying patterns)

Thank you for your helpful reply, We have 55,000 Avios points with flying BA and Qatar over the last 2 years , It would make sense to fly with Qatar so i can add to my Avios , But with flights to BKK over £1100 (
£1,184), it makes more sense to fly with Cathay for £700 which will be over £900 savings for 2 passengers.
So the way i understand it , During the booking process, I use my Qatar FFP number and not the Cathay number .
Maybe you can help me on this question to (Please) Do i need to set up an account for my wife with Cathay? She has a FFP with Qatar and also BA .
I am trying to set up my membership with Cathay correctly before booking the flights
Best regards
