I recently booked biz class on QF12 for Christmas eve. I was looking forward to flying upstairs on the A380. A week later I was notified that this flight, and seemingly this day only, is now on a 787. Any thoughts as to why a change 6 months in advance? Too much capacity for Christmas eve?
Forward bookings for US flights are much lower than normal for non-economic reasons (let the reader understand) particularly ex Australia. Particularly from LAX when they also fly from MEL and BNE.
I could see flights in normal peak December travel period being sold by QF for less than $AUD1500 in Y.
I suspect they decided they could make more money flying that A380 to Europe or Asia over Christmas.
If you want to fly the A380 then there’s always DFW.
