AC Hotel Burgos, Spain [Master Thread]

Stayed for 6 nights last month. Despite all the issues I would probably stay again if I knew I could get the junior suite for 100 euro.

At check-in I requested an upgrade and was given the junior suite on the top floor at the end of the hall in the corner of the building. Best room in the hotel I believe.

The initial experience wasn't so great, but we really wanted the larger room given the length of the stay. On the second day we called down and informed them of the bed and shower issue. The guy came and about 30 minutes later had replaced the shower head and fixed the bed frame.

At some point I noticed some robes on a cleaner's cart. I asked at the desk and they said our room should have them (all premium rooms should) and they would check. Later that night there still weren't robes. I asked the staff the next day and they said robes should be in our closet. They weren't, and the staff went and got me them.

I informed the staff I wanted to use the 'business center' computer to print out some documents. The next morning I attempted to but couldn't log in. They gave me a couple different codes but nothing worked. In the end I gave up. Later, as an apology, reception send us a couple bottles of stout and a platter of cheese and ham, a gesture I appreciated.

Pros
Price (under 100/night)
Great location
Ellegant exterior of building
Spacious room
Plenty of windows
Views of river in two directions
Pretty quiet
Friendly staff
Efficient maintence staff
Small but adequate fitness gym
Good breakfast priced at 16 euro (AC Madrid Carlton charges 26). Server made coffee and heated tortilla when requested.
Nearly correct crediting of daily F&B (18 euro). They got 5 of the 6 days right and fixed it when I pointed out the mistake at check out.

Cons
Sewer-like smell when we entered, probably since room hadn't been used recently. Ran the water, flushed the toilet and opened the windows. Smell went away and didn't return.
Fridge was filled with warm drinks as it was unplugged
Shower head was broken
Sink didn't drain 100% due to it not being level
Bed was very squeaky
No hand lotion in room
No robes in closet
Cleaning staff unplugged fridge a couple times
Despite giving my $250 Marriott gift certificate to them on day 4, they still hadn't figured out how to apply it by the time we checked out. My final bill came a couple days later via email.

FYI: There is an older review posted under the defunct Marriott Rewards section. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/24867351-post3.html
