Thumbs down AC Hotel Burgos, Great location, lots of shortcomings

This was a disappointing hotel. It was very well located (five easy minutes to the cathedral) and clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful but the design of the hotel room was poor. It was obviously designed for splash and style and not for traveler comfort or function. The bathroom door afforded very little privacy as there were substantial gaps on either side (be sure to pack room freshener), there was minimal storage for clothes and suitcases, there was no iron and ironing board in the room and none could be obtained from the front desk and the laundry service was grossly overpriced. We spent over €200 on a moderate number of clothes to be cleaned including €4,50 per pair of women's underpants. It would have been less expensive or my wife to buy new ones! The "air conditioning" was laughably and uncomfortably inadequate. Breakfast was not included in our stay and Cafe Americano was not to be had as the coffee maker was so complicated that the breakfast lounge attendent had to explain the operation of the machine to everyone (and I mean everyone) who tried to operate it. The entrance to the parking garage is on the street as you approach the hotel. Be forewarned that the underground parking is very scary to enter and it is with good reason that the walls are padded to protect them and the sides of your car. These are all small things but they added up to a hotel that did not meet our expectations. All in all, we'd never recommend the hotel. After I posted our review to Marriott the GM reached out to apologize for the shortcomings. I tried to make it clear that the staff were universally excellent and helpful but it was the room design that was faulty.
