This is what happens when your first flight is with LH (*A partner), and waitlisting has nothing to do with it. Your UA BP should be viewable in the UA app after you board the LH flight, or at least after you land in FRA.

Adding: You should be able to see the PP waitlist for your flight in the app starting 2 days before flight.
