I was again at the nearby Sofitel in february and the Méridien is still totally abandoned. The Méridien signs were already removed last year.
The Sofitel GM told me there is an eventual project of takeover around, but not sure and lot of renovation will be needed as the property is now closed and abandoned for 6 years. And no one is really rushing for new hotel projects because the hotel business is still very depressed in Siem Reap as there is no Chinese and fewer Asian tourists in general (while non-Asian tourists are up). Hotels not depending on Asian tourists are doing well while the others are doing not well or are still closed.
