I and my wife are flying DEN-LHR-IST with UA on DEN-LHR in Business and and TK with LHR-IST in Economy. Arrival is at noon on Sunday and and departure is at 7PM

I am a bit curious as to how DEN-LHR-IST ends up SFO-LHR-MUC. If though you have that flexibility then is there a particular desire or need to connect at LHR? There are arguably better UA or Star Alliance options to get you to continental Europe. LHR is not a great airport for international connections and in general is best avoided if reasonable alternatives exist.

Note though that while very infrequent, LH flights can, and do, depart from B gates as well, so one should keep an eye on the monitors.

Almost any airline lounge in Heathrow is closer to a Polaris lounge than a domestic UC. The bar for airline lounges at LHR historically set by BA and VS has been rather high and other airlines have had no choice than to offer comparable or competitive products. That said, it is subjective whether the United Lounge is truly the best in T2. I have several times gone to the SQ lounge in preference, and not felt that I was missing anything. Indeed, I will happily take a Singapore Sling and some Asian Cuisine over the worn offerings in a crowded afternoon United Club anyday.
