I've been using my Schwab debit card for international travel only for at least SEVEN years (I have checking at Chase when I'm in the US). And now I am overseas most of the time, since retiring three years ago. But prior to that, I would only use in it for 3 or weeks out of the year, when I was on vacation. It was never an issue. And I do have a brokerage account with Schwab - which is not a bad thing to have. Not to sound like a commercial, but Schwab is one of the best that ever happened to me. Their customer service has quickly solved every issue I've ever had.
As the foreign transaction fees at foreign ATMs have spiked (from about $5 to about $7 more recently), this card has saved me about $40 - $70 a month, when I am abroad.
