CX help

Dear FTs,

I'm not a CX flyer but my parents are (though they're not FT!). They have what I understand to be a one-year ticket in L class going MEL-HKG-Toronto-HKG-MEL.

My parents are flying out tomorrow, but my dad has all of a sudden found himself with an eye injury which may prevent him from flying. I am just wondering what type of flexibility L class has generally when swapping days/flights (I know it depends if L class seats become available etc) but is it be relatively easy to find an L class seat?

Secondly, if he were fit to fly and I wanted to upgrade him and/or my mother to business , how much would it cost roughly for MEL-HKG? This may be a question that can't be answered but hopefully some knowledgable FTs will be able to assist.

The CX call centre which diverts to HKG has been of no help. They keep telling me to fax the ticket over - which is great when I'm at home without a fax. I doubt there are many restrictions on my parent's ticket anyway.

Thanks in advance FTs!
