Blocked bassinet seat on the seatmap does not necessarily mean it has been taken. I often called into the call center and requested them to slate me in the bassinet seat if no one has really taken it yet. Of course, should a parent with a baby eventually wants to take that seat, it will go to them and I will have to be allocated somewhere else. But most of the time, I eventually got to sit there.
