I often called into the call center and requested them to slate me in the bassinet seat if no one has really taken it yet. Of course, should a parent with a baby eventually wants to take that seat, it will go to them and I will have to be allocated somewhere else. But most of the time, I eventually got to sit there.

Ah, so the bassinets can be selected by calling in (and are just blocked on web/app self service). Maybe the person who took 30C really likes 30C even though 30HK was open...maybe they prefer the asile (30C/H) and assumes 30K will be eventually taken anyway, and so chose 30C over 30H for better service on the left side (apparently) and/or get on/off faster....
