I booked on the regular Marriott site and got quoted in USD. The bill shows MXN and USD and the USD amounts match up from the original quote.
The current rate they're using as of July 2024 is 18.705. It was about that on 12th June (about a month ago) and reasonably close up to July 1st so I think it's reasonable.
Just completed two stays here, and there is a currency conversion penalty
when paying with Amex. The quoted rates are in USD, but payment is made in MXN (exchange rate: 21.1406). Amex converted back to USD at 20.1969. This is a nearly 5% penalty over the quoted rates. I confirmed with the front desk that they specifically cannot charge in USD with Amex and this issue does not occur with MC/Visa.

The day of my departure the frontage road that this hotel is on was closed, due to the US Embassy closing all of the roads around it. This makes it annoying to arrange Uber pickups and you really need to walk away from the hotel. Not sure how long the street closures last and I have a vague impression that this has happened in the past.
I was proactively upgraded on both stays to junior and corner suites, and agree with the above assessments that the hotel is nice but dated.
