Just an update a few years later, platinum status is still entirely useless despite requiring $10,000/year to obtain.

Was denied a room upgrade, no 3pm late check-out, no welcome basket, and my status wasn't even mentioned anywhere. I had to specifically ask "does it mention my platinum status on the booking?" and they were confused there was even such a thing.
