I've cleared out my Avios balance in much the same way since the changes were announced. An F return and a CW return for 4 of us cleared out something like 800k Avios and that was with 4 x 241 vouchers and 8 GUFs.
Didn't use any jokers though as the GUF vouchers opened the class we needed.
I'll mop up the rest as I go through 2025 and then I'm probably coming to join you in HON from late 2026.
I am like many of you with no reasonable prospect of maintaining GGL. I am GFL. I am also moving in March from London to Milan, although I will be back in forth between Milan and London a lot. My most common travel is to Toronto. There is no non-stop between Milan Toronto so I can now choose to be part of any alliance I want. I fly back to Toronto about 10 times a year, Asia once and other trips to Europe, usually one other intercontinental. I can qualify for Miles and more HON, Flying Blue Ultima, or Air Canada Super Elite with just my flights to Toronto, but I can't qualify for GGL. My 10 tickets before deducting tax are likely to cost less than £30k. Is there a forum that compares and contrasts the top tiers of the major programs. I would be very interested. I am very torn on where I should switch my allegiance.
