Flyertalk threads are like cocktail party conversations. You asked a question, but many others will read the answer, and the information may be useful to them even when you already knew.

FWIW, I think I’d much rather have been at a cocktail party than sitting in class somewhere.

Many classmates in all sorts of settings have said to me “thank you for asking that question, I wasn’t sure about it but I didn’t want to ask the question because I thought I was the only one who didn’t understand and I didn’t want to look stupid”. Of course, the appearance of stupidity has never stopped me from doing anything 😉.)
