This credit was added to the Business Platinum Card in December 2024. An identical credit was added to the Hilton Surpass card in October 2023, and since that time the Surpass thread in the Hilton forum has been largely dedicated to datapoints and strategies regarding use of the $50 quarterly credit -- see posts 895 and later at https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilt...ed-ascend.html

Among other uses for the quarterly credit, purchases of Hilton gift cards at the following link have consistently triggered the credit on the Surpass card since November 2023. They are physical gift cards are mailed to your address for a fee of $2 - 10 depending on shipping method selected. The only reported glitch with ordering the cards has been that the site occasionally runs out of physical cards to mail, in which case purchasers have received an immediate refund and an email explaining the problem.
.
.
Per post #94 below, as of January 3, 2025, the giftcard website is experiencing a similar shortage of physical cards that it predicts will take 8 weeks to resolve: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/36785571-post94.html

This thread from the Hilton forum contains many reports of problems experienced when trying to redeem gift cards at Hilton properties: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hilt...e-hiltons.html

Potential problems with gift card use

I was just scrolling through the HIlton forum and found this thread which may be of interest to folks here -- yikes! Hilton gift cards do not work at some Hiltons I've collected a handful of gift cards to date using my Surpass quarterly credit, but have not tried to use any of them yet. Similar to the Dell credit, it seems that some people are able to use their gift cards without issue, but others have experienced a range of problems. Sigh.

Tonight after clicking the "Consumer" gift card link, the next page is non-functional. "Choose a Gift Card Design" is not clickable.
Clicking REGISTER allows you to log in, but when you try to add a card to the cart, you go back here where no designs are available.

This was reported in post #94 above.

Did you read the yellow banner at the top of that page which explains why you can't purchase cards and when they will be available again?

With all this discussion of Hilton GCs, we may be losing sight of the simplest answer (KISS). Gotta ask.

Would the full $50 (quarterly) AmEx Biz Plat Hilton credit be posted after charging exactly $50 to a registered Biz Plat card at check-out from a Hilton property?

Generally speaking, other than those properties that have been identified as being challenging for GC use, are properties amenable to at checkout our saying (for example) please charge $50 to this Biz Plat card, $50 to this other Biz Plat card, $50 to each of these 2 or 3 or 4 GCs and the remaining balance to the credit card on file?

Are hotels happy to get their/our money however they can or do they not want to deal with that sort of hassle/complication?

Thank you.

(I got though college and medical school and all sorts of Navy training and private pilot training by asking questions in group settings about which I well knew the answer but thought other people might not be so certain. Many classmates in all sorts of settings have said to me thank you for asking that question, I wasnt sure about it but I didnt want to ask the question because I thought I was the only one who didnt understand and I didnt want to look stupid. Of course, the appearance of stupidity has never stopped me from doing anything 😉.)

And the newer post 98 below that said he/she was still able to place an order while the banner was present.
Did you read that?

If you predictably travel to a Hilton at least once a quarter, this is certainly easier than a gift card. But for those who do not, a gift card permits them (in theory) to bank the credit until such time as they have reason to visit a Hilton, and to squeeze a bit more value out of the hefty Amex annual fee.

I did this back in December. Stayed at a HILTON, that was also a Hilton Aspire resort. Split my folio and had them charge exactly $50 to my business Amex. The credit posted in a couple days.
Also had the resort charge exactly $50 to my business Platinum for January, 2025. Credit also posted in a couple days. Good Luck.

Yes I did and I think you need to read that again. Post 98 did not say that they purchased while the banner was showing, only that they purchased "the other day" (not sure exactly what other day that refers to but I'm assuming it was before the banner went up) and that it "shipped out already - despite their headline message of a card shortage."

I myself purchased a few cards earlier in the day on 1/3 and my cards also shipped a couple of days later despite that banner being up as well. There's a difference between actually getting an order through while that banner was showing vs placing the order shortly prior and then having it shipped after the banner went up.

Since the banner went up I've also been trying to purchase more cards for additional Biz plats and have been checking several times a day and was not yet even once successful in being able to buy any and also did not feel the need to post that here since the reason I'm unable to purchase has already been reported and is also very clearly stated on the site banner.

If I remeber correctly there were two banners. The first just stated that inventory shortage and to expect delays (can;t remember exactly but it wasn't as much text as shown above) and I could order my GC no problem beginning of the year.

The current banner has been up since late in the day on 1/3 and is what was reported and quoted in post 94. If you purchased prior to this banner then it was 1/1 or 1/2 or 1/3 before the banner went up (like I did). I don't think anyone has reported they were able to purchase since that specific banner went up.

Has anyone tried ringing up incidentals and received credit?
My nearby Hampton Inn sells beer for ~$10.

yes. u can always just split payment via CC directly but depends on many factors. whole point of GCs is preserving the credit for future use or buy/sell. or have frens/fam use the credit without having to give them ur card or AU.

but as u noted, eventually, if certain properties get too many $50 GC split payments, they may limit the number of payments forms. i can totally see this. front desk will say something about fraud and scam etc etc.
