Courtyard Kuala Lumpur South [Master Thread]

Prelude

I wanted to stay somewhere near PJ and was working remotely in EST, so I needed a place that’s quiet and had good internet.

After not really feeling most of other Marriott properties in KL (either because of location or design), I saw this new hotel and decided to give it a try.

Location

This hotel is located in a new mall called Bloomsave Shopping Gallery. It’s off Old Klang Road and is in a somewhat residential area, but it’s close to a lot of the major malls like Pavilion Bukit Jalil, Sunway Lagoon, and IOI Puchong. It’s also not too far from Taylor’s Lakeside campus. The area is quiet which is perfect for me working at night, as compared to a hotel in Bukit Bintang.

The mall itself seems to be under development and a lot of the stores are not open yet, but there’s a variety of restaurants, cafes, and there’s a Daiso downstairs. There’s also a supermarket called MeMi ZoooZooo (yes, that’s the actual name) that’s 24 hours. It’s funny that the Family Mart isn’t and closes at 1AM, but I digress.

The hotel parking lot is under the mall and is RM 16 a day with unlimited in and out privileges; make sure you register your number plate at the front desk. To get from the parking lot to the lobby, you’d take the elevator up to the mall, go through the office building, and then get to the lobby. It’s all connected, but the path is a bit hard to find.

Check In

I booked a basic king room and saw that it was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite a day before check in, even though the room wasn’t available through the app.

The front desk person was super friendly and offered to give me free breakfast (which I rejected because I worked at night). The welcome gift was either 500 points, $10 USD F&B credit, or free breakfast. They then explained all the amenities to me.

Room

The 1 bedroom suite is very well appointed! There’s a small kitchenette area with plates and utensils, a Nespresso machine with pods, a microwave (thank goodness), and a small minibar. There’s a proper dining table with placemats.

There’s a large couch with a TV that doesn’t have Chromecast, unfortunately. The bedroom is large and has a couch and a working desk too. There are USB-C plugs along with international outlets at each bedside. The blinds aren’t fully black-out but they block out a good amount of light and are controlled by buttons.

The bathroom had a manual bidet that sprayed hot water. There’s also a bathtub and dual sinks.

The internet is fast enough for meetings at around 25 mbps. The AC would go below 23C / 73F even when it’s set to 23C, which I think a lot would appreciate; it gets cold at night.

Housekeeping was not the most professional; they left a lot of the trash on the table and also left someone else’s trash in our room.

Dining

Since I slept in until the afternoon, I didn’t get to try out the restaurant for breakfast. I got a lot of food delivery in the late night. There is a desk at the front that you can ask the delivery driver to leave your food on.

Gym and Spa

The gym is 24 hours and had a decent assortment of weights and machines.

Service

I didn’t have much interaction with the staff, but they all seemed friendly.

Overall

I would definitely come back to this hotel for the price and for the amount of space. The location isn’t the best but I think it’s doable given the price point and the other positive aspects.
