That's the thing, there's nothing
positive to say about it. I got where I was going, I got to sit in the seats that I paid extra for, sure, but all of that is the bare minimum. If you want to find
something positive, I guess most of the planes are relatively new? You have 18/20 odds of getting a 7M8 that's <6 years old, or you have 2/20 odds of getting a 14-year-old 738. No idea what the interiors are like on the latter.
But mostly it was negative. Staff were universally unfriendly, both on the ground an in-flight. The lack of OLCI BP is baffling. The 2.4% credit card surcharge wasn't disclosed until the payment page. The algorithms they're using to upsell post-purchase are clearly badly programmed when they're sending me a note pitching extra baggage several days after I've flown.
So there's really nothing to admire. Their operation at the airport isn't efficient like many LCCs - I was shocked at all those people at the counter in YVR. Some LCCs have a pretty slick tech setup to minimize your need for human interaction and extract more cash - I did 11 segments on F9 a couple weeks ago, and their app is generally quite good for both bookings and day-of-travel stuff; Flair doesn't even have an Android app. The purchase flow for tickets wasn't enticing as far as purchasing additional services, it was just annoying. Every aspect of it feels like they know what an LCC
is, but not how to properly
run one.
If you want positive comments on an LCC experience, similar trips with Lynx in the past were easy. Everything worked fine, pay for whatever you want, OLCI and get a BP, staff at the airport were friendly. RIP Lynx. I also had no issues with Swoop.
But Flair, no, I have nothing positive to say.
