In N Out is the same thing - like a cult pilgrimage, although tastier, and can make for a nice layover activity near LAX or SFO. I doubt you'll ever see "runs" to Shake Shack as an airport layover activity.
I ran to Shake Shack in the Singapore Changi Airport Jewel as an airport layover activity, so YMMV...
