Operator flash programming of GSM phones?

I have a Motorola V600 that I bought from Orange. Works great. Now I have started using it in the US with a Cingular chip. When I get a voice mail, the MWI message from the network appears to be different than the Orange MWI. With Cingular I get a SMS with garbage text. I figured out that Cingular flashes their phones to receive a different MWI than what Orange sends.

Anyone know a way to easily fix this?
