To your first question, it's completely hit or miss. Sometimes there are much better cars on one side or the other, but the only way to find out is to check both sides. To me, it's not worth the hassle to lug everything from one side to the other to check and it's a 50/50 shot you'd have been better off on the first side. Are you then going to lug everything back over to the first side and hope what you saw is still available? I just pick up on whatever side I come in on.
