For me it was a significantly cheaper business class fare to Europe from MNL compared to flying from TPE, so was willing to take on the inconvenience of positioning from TPE-MNL. Defintely would not be doing it just for fun.
I also avail of PR-PR transfers at MNL when fares are too good to pass up, but only after confirming I would be able to stay in the same terminal. That's actually an okay experience.
But, some people here are transferring between terminals. Maybe to position for mileage runs?
