As many people know, Taylor Swift is performing in New Orleans this weekend. I flew DUB-LHR-MSY on Thursday evening and just barely made my LHR-MSY connection. Had I missed it, I would not have been able to get home until Friday night; there were still seats available on Friday night’s LHR-MSY non-stop on BA, and on most of BA’s flights to the US on Friday, but any flight that required a connection would not have worked as all of AA’s flights to MSY on Friday were already completely full.

In any event, as I said I made my connection and landed at MSY at 8pm on Thursday night. In 35+ years of flying in and out of MSY, I have never seen so many crowds, so much traffic, and so much chaos. Fortunately my daughter was able to pick me up. Had she not I imagine the wait for taxis and Ubers would have been insane. My daughter picked me up on the departures level, as is our norm. Even that was crowded and chaotic, whereas normally at 8pm it would have been empty.
