I'm considering a flight to Australia going through Jakarta (CGK) on separate tickets.

Arriving from Europe via JED with Saudia at 17.20 hours and the Qantas flight to Sydney is at 19.50 hours. Would probably need to clear immigration, pick-up bags and re-check, but I assume I have around 90 mins to do that as check-in supposedly closes 60 mins before departure. I would check in online as well, so just need to drop the bags. Unsure if there is an interline agreement and whether it's possible to check bags all the way through.

Anybody knows this?
PS . I have travel insurance

I think you might be seeking positive reinforcement of your plan, but the gist of the replies here - and those following your duplicate post in another thread - highlight the risks involved. If the flights take place as scheduled, you'd most probably be fine. But any delay to the incoming flight, increases the risk of having to shell out a considerable amount of cash to put things right. Assessing that risk, and the consequences of failure, are very much your business and you can set the assessments against your approach to risk taking,

The travel insurance could be a red herring. Insurers are unlikely to take on the risk of a missed connection not part of a single ticket. They tend to prefer risks they can share with, or fully assign to, a third party - in this case the airline(s) involved. As the airlines would wash their hands of any responsibility for the consequences of a missed connection falling between their tickets, so would the insurer. it's probably a good idea to iron out with the insurer the way they would approach this specific situation. If they confirm they're OK to take on the risk, then you're in clover .

By the way, it's something of a no-no to duplicate questions within a forum, or, indeed, within the wider FT environment.
