Another option, if you are not set on going into Munich itself, is to visit the little town of Freising (www.freising.de) nearby. It is about 8km northwest of the airport on the far side of the A92 and has a quaint downtown area with a very good italian restaurant, Pasta & More (http://www.essen-macht-spass.de/kontakt.php) about 1km north of the train station near the intersection of Johannisstrasse and Weihenstephanerstrasse.

The business / shopping area is a little more than a km in length and is charming in that small town german way. Being so close to the airport, it will also not be very expensive for taxis.
