The Sydney change is a very annoying when going to another AU domestic airport, so need to go to T3 (Qantas) T2 (Virgin - Jetstar]
If using the QF checkin bag drop at T1 international
  • Arriving at Sydney T1 international- can be early, on time or late
  • Taxi and wait for plane doors to open - 2 mins to 25 mins. 06:00-09:00 is very busy
  • Immigration - 5 mins to 30 mins. Self service kiosk for may people, depending on passport.
  • Wait for bags - 1 min to 20 mins
  • Clear customs - 1 min to 10 mins (make sure you fill out customs forms on the plane!) [can be more in my experience]
  • Walk to QF domestic checkin / bag drop area at T1 (3 minutes)
  • Check in & bag drop: queue can be variable depending on time of day
  • Domestic security - 5 mins at T1
  • QF airside transfer bus T1 to T3 gate 15:- 15min tour of the airport (can be interesting)
  • Lounge visit if have access - time
  • Arrive at gate prior to departure - 10 mins
From a recent thread. This is good as it gets at peak time. Luck on the day

Thank you all! I made it through under an hour!
6:44 landed (ended up arrive earlier than United!)
7:05 cleared the custom (I have no check bag and there are multiple passport control machines which I spent most of my time but still less than 10 mins)
7:15 hopped onto the Qantas transfer bus (no checked bag but have to weigh the bag)
7:35 checked in at the Qantas biz lounge with an hour to enjoy (got in through the entrance of Qantas Club)
8:40 boarding time (ETA)
