Thanks, everyone for the great info. I am back in 1A and 1B after switching to Row 2 yesterday. At 5'8" and 5'6" it seems row 1 is the winner. We don't mind having our overhead storage back a row or two if necessary. And, of course, no one will recline at all into our row. So, row 1 it is on this UA aircraft.
Back in the day I always preferred the bulkhead in first but in more recent years many of the narrow body bulkheads in first are too tight for me.
