As far as conversing with your travel companion goes, CS just isn't that well set up for it. The centre seats are angled such that each of you are closer to the aisle than to each other and you have to lean quite far forward to see through the open partition. This combined with the high level of background noise means that after a few strained attempts you will likely just opt for the ife in your private little cubicle.
This is true to an extent but I would still say it is quite nice to sit in a middle pair together. You can definitely clink a glass of bubbly with each other, co-ordinate films if you like, and of course it can be fun playing up/down with the divider. In my view they are kind of ideal couple seats - giving you plenty of space and privacy for 'me time' during a long flight while still close enough for sharing together.
