I currently don’t have status so can’t choose a free seat now.
My dilemma is should I pay to secure a seat now - definitely want a window seat. Or wait I should hit bronze by the time I get to SYD so will be able to choose 7 days out. Is it worth waiting and monitoring or buy now? There are quite a lot of seats available now. Closest to the front looks to be 10K is that a good seat.
If I buy now and a better seat say in the mini cabin comes up can I change my seat?
Thank you for any help 1st time travelling business long haul pretty excited.
Looking at the seat map at the moment it does look fairly empty in CW with plenty of window seats available. But normally that flight does go out full, so you cannot 100% be certain that at 8 days to departure there will be at least one window seat available. If you are on BA16 all the way to London then it's 24 hours (in essence) in one seat, so maybe that changes things? Would you be very disappointed with a central seat? On the other hand it's CS on that service so there is a high proportion of window seats and even if a seat isn't available at 7 days, there are often a lot of changes even after online check-in. If you are switching in SIN to the A380 then I think that diminishes the case, since you have a second seat selection go. Also the flight is in darkness for much of the time too. If you do pay for seating you can select other seats, there may be an additional amount to pay (or not) since it's dynamic pricing. The other option is to check seats regularly and buy only if forced, that is to say if the window seat options start to shrivel up.
