Cheap parking would be a plus. 3* ok.
Are you looking for any particular chain? Will you have a car?

About 6 years ago, I was going to The Gaylord for an event, but wanted an extra night in the area beforehand (without paying the event prices). I ended up at the Doubletree Market Center, which was much more reasonably priced...and was even upgraded to a suite. It was an older property, but certainly adequate (I've staying in better and worse).

Some time before that (probably 11-12 years ago), I missed a connection CLT-PHX and ended up flying CLT-DFW, DFW-PHX, with just a few hours at DFW. I stayed at a Doubletree very close to the airport (north side) on points. It wasn't nearly as nice as the one at Market Center. I didn't have a car, and the shuttle was very slow in both directions. The room (for the limited time I was there) was adequate, but I wouldn't want to stay there more than a night.

There are threads in the hotel forums that focus on properties in specific geographic areas. If you prefer one chain, I'd visit that forum and find the thread (let me know if you have trouble using the search; it isn't the easiest to figure out).
