Good for you for being aggressive with the recon call, never hurts to ask (again and again if necessary), give them an opportunity to say “yes”, worst they can do is say “no” (again

). FWIW, recon decisions include subjective factors (by the Chase rep) and as such can vary from rep to rep and from one call to another call. I have
occasionally been approved on a 2nd or even a 3rd recon call. You might consider another recon call a day or 2 or 5 after the first recon call. They sling all sorts of nonsense at us, we can just as easily sling it back at them (again) “I’m great customer, never missed a payment, high credit scores, I know I have lots of new cards and/or inquires but this is the card I’d really like to use for blah, blah, blah.”
In addition to theories as postulated by other esteemed FTers above, other Chase relationships might be a factor. I believe that CPC, which used to be a documented runaround 5/24, still helps with Chase CC approvals in unclear unofficial ways. During the past few years (5/24 era) I’m usually at 3-4/24 and 15-20/24 including Biz cards, with too many inquiries (i.e. probable higher velocity than you), yet I’ve been instantly approved for ~20 Chase cards including churning UA Club personal and biz cards (for SUBs and Club access) every 26 months and Hyatt personal and biz cards (for SUBs) every 26 months and most recent approval (2nd Hyatt biz card) last week. I’ll post again after a planned Ink Preferred application (for new SUB) in the next week with an open Ink Preferred account, my first Chase Ink application with an identical open account. My point is that if you don’t already have an existing Chase relationship (bank accounts,
Sapphire banking,
CPC), you should consider it. Good luck.
