So, "I am going to forfeit/loose 90% of my points used" my thinking goes.
Instead now I see a charge of over $ 900 on my credit card from the hotel.
Meanwhile the points charge/deduction from my Discoverist account is gone, e.g. the ponts returned.
Even the cancellation email states completely misleading cxl policy above again!

Do I have any recourse?
You have no recourse. Read the T&Cs. If you no-show or cancel a points reservation inside the cancellation window, your points are returned and you are charged the cash rate, or perhaps in your case, 90% of the cash rate.
