This is correct — you
cannot directly combine them. However, assuming that you want/need to use both Chase points and AA points for your upcoming trip, there are several ways you could potentially
use them in combination with one another by booking two one-way trips instead of a single round trip. One of these one-way awards would use AA points, and one would use Chase UR points.
- You would use your AA points to book a one-way award on AA.
- With respect to your Chase UR points, you could potentially:
- Transfer them to a oneworld partner of AA (BA, Qantas, etc.), and through that airline’s program, book a one-way flight on an AA flight. That’s the option moondog and guv1976 have outlined above.
- Redeem your UR points by booking an AA flight on the Chase travel portal, (Note: booking through the portal can make further changes sometimes difficult, read the Chase forum in the credit card forum for more information).
- Transfer your UR points to United, and get a one-way United award ticket for half of your journey.
Hope that helps
