If you are in J departing Canada you should receive a pre-order e mail 30 days or so before your flight (timing is not consistent). I believe there is an option for special meals there in addition to the regular menu. Otherwise the link is the way to go, or call in to request.

Apparently there is no preorder option on my route (CPH-YYZ). As for what I had in mind, the choices of Vegetarian Hindu, Vegetarian Jain etc. have on other airlines resulted in my companion receiving the same special meal that a Y passenger would receive had they indicated the same dietary restriction. I instead was hoping for a preorder option of the vegetarian selection on the J menu, which doesn't appear to be on offer here.
