Indigo Glasgow
What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
King Standard > King Premium
How are the rooms?
My room was on the top floor facing north. The floor is extremely creaky which might annoy the room below if audible. The ‘free’ minibar had only Tunnocks and water.
The light switches are slightly complicated and it seemed impossible to control many of the bulbs individually. This was also the case in other Indigos I visited on this trip. The room thermostat did not respond to me pressing the buttons, so after a hot shower, the room felt extremely cold (and it was a cold night).
There is no kettle, only the coffee machine for boiling water.
How is the exec. lounge?
None
What was good and what was bad?
The lift is excruciatingly slow, particularly during morning ‘rush hour’ when it will stop at every floor.
I had the full Scottish breakfast and it was done perfectly except for the poached eggs which were close to hard-boiled. The buffet section was kept well-stocked and service was very fast, except that I had to walk in to attract someone’s attention.
Staff were all very casual but chatty and efficient, almost as if the brand standard instructs them to behave in this way – I stayed at several Indigos on this trip and got a deja vu feeling each time I checked in. Interactions with staff at other IHG brands are noticeably different.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
I paid £46 net courtesy of the Amex UK IHG offer. I had booked a low refundable rate a few months prior, but it dropped even lower 6 days before.
Despite being a frequent traveller to Glasgow, I’ve never managed to stay here before because there was always another property I wanted to try that was cheaper. Depending on rates, the location near Central station would make this my first choice in the future when travelling by train, along with the voco, though there is also free street parking from 6pm to 8am. One thing in favour of this hotel is that breakfast begins at 0630 on weekdays rather than the voco’s 0700.
