BofA has apparently done away with instant issue credit card numbers online, so it is no longer possible to use the card immediately after applying. However... There is a small hack with just adding 4 years today's date to get the expiration to have a valid credit card

1) Complete your application for the card, set up your Bank of America online account, and activate your card. If you skip activation, you won't be able to proceed to step 3.

2) Once logged into your account, navigate to the Information and Services tab. Click on "Show" under Account Number to view your complete card details.

3) To book a flight, call Alaska at 1-800-252-7522 (1-800-ALASKAAIR). Provide the agent with your card number, the billing address associated with the card, and the expiration date.

If you're nice, the agent will waive the $15 booking fee.
