It's not just refurbished, it's a brand new Terminal A that is quite surprisingly decent. Of course, as you say changing terminals is a hassle.

There was a brief discussion of the BA lounge at EWR in the SQ21 thread (SQ used to use the VS Clubhouse, which was permanently closed during the pandemic, so apparently they now use the BA lounge), which MattEvan described as "a bit better than it should be but still a random side terminal outstation lounge".
