Really the only thing of any value you get (and definitely not worth $250) is Gold. You'd get that anyway by having the 30 nights from a biz and a consumer credit card, and those cards come with a free night with no spend requirement.

Some people are indeed attracted by Marriott
BONV°Y Gold Elite status, not fully understanding its relatively minimal benefits.
For others, the one-time sign-up bonus (SUB) is the main attraction.
As explained upthread, those to whom the Marriott Bevy AmEx card has most value are those who frequently stay at Marriott properties, and for whom the $15K spend is trivial, to earn a 50K-point free night award (FNA) certificate.
