Which other sites? Normally, I would just use ITA Matrix, but I can't even do that since AA pulled most of the lower fares from GDS.
Personally, I use Kayak. I can choose to filter by AA, without basic and for fares through airline only. Then it takes me directly to AA for purchase.
AA website is like so many other websites, it is often easier to use an outside search engine rather than the ones inside the site
