Observation, the Pro’s pocket comes at the cost of interior space to a somewhat greater extent than I expected. However, an external pocket is sooooo much more convenient. It was a 777 with AA, a BA CityFlyer E190 and a BA B737. Fit was fine.
Yes, BA allows larger size hand baggage (I've never seen them even check hand bag size, see threads in BA forum) but the problem in UK/Europe is with the LCC as they have strict policies and enforce them. Something to be aware of.
External pockets should be mandatory.
