I was trying to pay for the tickets with three different cards (MC and VISA; different currencies + Revolut) and all of them have expire dat in 2026+ so definitely not a card problem.
In the end it seemed to be a problem with Qatar Airways. They seemed to be having some phantom availability with certain routes and times on aa. com. They also change their schedules a lot so even if you do make a successful booking you have to go back and rebook like I just did. I switched to the TPA to LGW and then LHR to RUH. Just have to deal with the change of airports but I've done it before.
