It relates to a scandal involving the manufacturer Koito over the falsification of certification data. Koito are no longer in the aviation seat business.

A 10 year EASA exception was granted for their use on Singapore 77Ws & A380s but that only lasted until 31st July 2021 at which point they had to be removed from service and replaced. Hi-Fly acknowledged that they needed to do that and they had a plan to do just that before COVID turned up and resulted in them eventually just retiring the fleet. So 9H-MIP is still as it was the day it left SQ.
